Mushroom Log Making Workshop

A fun, hands-on workshop for DIY-ers

Get on the tools and get hands-on making your own Shiitake mushroom log at our outdoor mushroom log-making workshop.

This practical class will teach you all about the ancient mushroom cultivation technique of log making. Drill the holes, hammer in the mushroom dowels and seal them up with wax, all the while being guided by expert growers Mickey and Amy.

Held at the beautiful market garden, Neighbourhood Farm in Oxley, we will touch on other methods of outdoor mushroom growing and enjoy a Brisbane winter's day outside surrounded by delicious produce.

All skill levels are welcome!

What you'll learn:

  • The the basics of mushroom biology

  • What mushrooms can be grown on logs and in garden beds

  • What tree species work best for these methods

  • How to take care of your mushroom log until it's ready to fruit

  • How to initiate fruiting and the ideal growing conditions
